The Benefits of an Organized Workplace

Sit in your chair and take a look around your office or workspace. What do you see?

Is it clean?

Working in a dusty, dirty environment usually benefits no one. Either have custodial services clean it or get out some disinfecting wipes and get to it.

A clean work area is a motivating, visual boost.

Is there a place for everything?

If you do not organize how you will store documents, merchandise, materials and food, they end up stacked, shoved into corners and under cabinets or placed on top of other items.

Is everything in it’s place?

If not, do not worry about it!

Just start to put things in place as you navigate your workday. You are leaving to get something, put an item where it belongs. You return from a meeting, put an item where it belongs. You are going for coffee, put an item where it belongs. You are waiting for something to print, put another item away.

In a fairly short time, everything will be put away.

You can also set aside 15 minutes each morning or at the end of your business day to put things away.

I also only have on my desk, what I am working on at that moment. Everything else is put away until I am ready to start working on it.

Sometimes things do get messy. Just return things to order as a priority as soon as you can.

Clear the clutter. Every wasted moment used to search for something that is not where it should be, leads to delays and frustration.

Save yourself the hassel, organize your workspace and maintain it. Step by step you can do it!
