Are You Overcommitted in Your Role as a Ministry Leader?

Signs that you may be doing too much:

Easily irritated

Constantly tired

Short term memory issues

Frustration over diminishing family and friends time

Losing weight

Gaining weight (over eating)

Feelings of overwhelm

Increased fear of failure

These are only a few of the potential signs of an unhealthy workload.

I recommend using a pen and paper but you can use a computer of any device.

At a high level, write down your areas of responsibility. Look at that list. At this level, do you need to be responsible for that area/duty/department/ministry/team?

If the answer is yes, individually go through each area and write your responsibilities. Do this on different days if you are too busy or if you need time to think about each area.

Looking at this list. At this level, do you need to be responsible for everything on your list? If the answer is yes again then do the same thing breaking sown your responsibilities.

Highlight everything that can be delegated, and begin to work on making changes to each area one at a time.

Your mind, body and ministry will most likely benefit from the changes you make.
