From Stress to Sweetness

Enjoying life more by trying something new does not have to be a big thing. It can be as simple as baking something new.

Some of the benefits of baking are that you can create a new tradition for yourself or family that is comforting and a fun connection activity year after year if you like.

The act of preparing the baked goods, in my case a Jamaican Easter Bun, is relaxing as I smell the spices and batter mixture. These sensory experiences remind me of baking with my grandmother and it seems to naturally calm my nervous system.

Bonus benefits of baking is that you experience a great sense of accomplishment if it turns out well and a fair bit of humor sometimes when it does not! If it does not work out so great the first time, making it again and make adjustments. This is for fun and relaxation, not a test.
